Oh my world! I still can’t believe I’m a prophetess. That I saw the end of this craze in Lagos!
Call it survival or innovation but it was doing us more harm than good. We had too many people jumping on trends for jumping sake, and doing nothing to build an economy that will last.
Were these guys saying that transportation through the use of motorcycles was the only thing they could bank on? Were they saying they couldn’t think of other ways to make money?
Wait. I thought entrepreneurship was about identifying problems and coming up with solutions? If an organization is already tackling a problem, won’t it be sensible to just go on and look for another problem to solve? Come on, we know we are plagued with a lot of them!
The bottom line is that we are too lazy to think. We don’t want to go through the stress of strategizing, building or even sustaining anything. If somebody else has created it, make all of us kukuma go gather there.
No, it is not bad to be in the business of improving an existing system or idea. Don’t get me wrong. The problem is in doing nothing different; nothing else but compete. Our pastors stand at pulpits and encourage people to stick to old methods and we believe that we can evolve with that? I will give you their popular line – “That everyone is doing it, does not mean you can not do it. Go ahead and start your own that looks like their own. The one that is for you will definitely come to you”.
Hmm. I was praying for sense, courage and vision for entrepreneurs. But I definitely didn’t see a ban coming. Are we better for it though? I cannot tell for now. Maybe in time, we will see and come to know why. In time, I have no doubts, that we will see that God loves His children dearly… That everything He allows to be, He allows for our own good. Isn’t that the same reason He has asked us in the scriptures to give our love, respect and undying support to any government in power?
They may think they are living for themselves, but in truth, they are pencils in the hand of God. He usually chooses them and places them in those positions to guide His children. And at some other times, he places them in power to chastise, rebuke and redirect His erring children. The government of Lagos is no different. It is not out of the radar of God’s love.
So, to prove to you all that I’m a prophetess; that I saw the end of that craze in Lagos, I’m going to share with you what I wrote some months ago. I wrote the following piece on the 19th of December 2019 at precisely four minutes past six am. I’m not sure of what you will make of it but I can help you “put things in perspective” by telling you my mood at the time. I was irritated.
They are everywhere and it seems like they are the only ones with eyes for the country’s numerous problems. Right now, their response is immediate and the quality of service is good. But in time? It will join the list of things we have “used and dumped”.
No, it won’t be because the masses made that decision. It will be because Payo chose to relax a bit. Afterall, no be them kill Jesus. They will get tired, become very proud and then they will choose laziness.
All of you before them – LXO, Jain.com, Ganok, Mujia, Xitafy, etc – you remember what it was like when you first started? You still have not been able to tell us why you all lost your shine and your zeal. Your offices are now like the typical government offices we have around the country; dilapidated.
