Hello Jo,
I hope this meets you well. I came across your profile on Instagram earlier this year but then, I was too busy worrying about my problems. All I did was say a prayer for you and left.
I prayed that God will grant you opportunities to achieve your dreams amidst all your challenges and that He will grant you strength to stay strong.
Recently, your page came up again on my search and this time, I had to sit back and go through your page – all of it; it was like going on your journey with you. My curiosity didn’t leave me be. I have been reading, ever since, about Lupus.
Hmm. Need I say that I am profoundly amazed at the kind of strength you bear? Yes, I do.
Lupus may be terribly difficult to cure but you have found ways to manage it and you have found ways to encourage and help other people manage it. That says to me that you are indeed a warrior and that strength has nothing to do with size or wealth.
Jo, you inspire me. Tell you what? I feel strongly that God wants to tell you things with all of these. Lessons and truths learnt from this period of your life will come in handy for the latter part of your life.
I know God is mindful of you and that He cares so much about you. I know that He does not place His children in situations He hasn’t prepared or will prepare them for.
You are strong, you are resilient, you are young, you are intelligent, you are beautiful, you are kind and you are loving. A person with all of these attributes can go through any storm and come out unscathed.
I love you, Jo and tonight my family is going to say a prayer for you and you are going to be in my prayers from now on. Keep being our motivation. Some of us think it is the end for us until we find other people enduring real stuff.
Healing from the inside to the outside, strength like never before, grace to hold on and carry on, peace that supersedes human understanding, and love eternal, these, and many more blessings that you stand in need of at this point, Our Heavenly Father bless you with in the hallowed name of the Saviour Jesus Christ, amen.
To Mr. and Mrs. Rivers, with love.
What is Lupus?
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to turn against the body and attack healthy tissues or organs. It affects people in many different ways and its symptoms are often confused with other illnesses, making diagnosis particularly challenging.
This disease is nine times more common in women, often hitting them in the prime of their lives between the ages of 15 and 45.
Lupus is a life-changing disease. Although symptoms vary greatly for each individual, it can have a debilitating impact on a patient’s quality of life. The cause of lupus is largely unknown, though it is believed to be linked to a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
Though symptoms can vary greatly from person to person, they commonly include extreme fatigue, unexplained and continuing weight loss, fever, swollen glands and joints, and decreased mobility.
One symptom that can help differentiate lupus is patients often develop a“butterfly rash,” which is a skin lesion that appears in the shape of a butterfly across individuals’ cheeks and nose.
My goal in publishing this is to add my voice to that of everyone else who has been encouraging public dialogue – no more silence.
